I'm Gonna Love You Through It

As many of you already know my mom is fighting breast cancer for the second time. She has a great prognosis and has such an positive attitude. She had surgery last month and will be starting chemo next week for 18 weeks (6 treatments every 3 weeks) followed by radiation every day for 6 weeks. I was watching Good Morning America this morning as I do most mornings. My mom always had it on while she was getting ready in the morning and it has now become part of my morning routine. Robin Roberts, one of the hosts on the show, is a breast cancer survivor. This morning she showed everyone the premiere of the new Martina McBride video she participated in. One of my mom's friends told me about this song and I can honestly say I was blown away. I would be putting it mildly to say I shed a few tears. Martina told my family's story. The most incredible part is that it is so many families' story. I am including the lyrics and the video below. So glad God had this in just the right place at just the right time for me to see!!

"I'm Gonna Love You Through It"

She dropped the phone and burst into tears
The doctor just confirmed her fears
Her husband held it in and held her tight
Cancer don’t discriminate or care if you’re just 38
With three kids who need you in their lives
He said, "I know that you’re afraid and I am, too
But you’ll never be alone, I promise you"

When you’re weak, I’ll be strong
When you let go, I’ll hold on
When you need to cry, I swear that I’ll be there to dry your eyes
When you feel lost and scared to death,
Like you can’t take one more step
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.

She made it through the surgery fine
They said they caught it just in time
But they had to take more than they planned
Now it's forced smiles and baggy shirts
To hide what the cancer took from her
But she just wants to feel like a woman again
She said, "I don't think I can do this anymore"
He took her in his arms and said "That's what my love is for"

When you’re weak, I’ll be strong
When you let go, I’ll hold on
When you need to cry, I swear that I’ll be there to dry your eyes
When you feel lost and scared to death,
Like you can’t take one more step
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.

And when this road gets too long
I'll be the rock you lean on
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.
I’m gonna love you through it.

And for all of you that have been praying for my mom and my family, thank you! I will put an update on here and on Facebook when the first chemo treatment is completed on Wednesday and let everyone know how she did.
