Day 9/40: What Makes God Smile?

“The lord in pleased with those who worship him and trust his love.”
Psalm 147:11

There are five main acts of worship that make God smile:

1. When we love Him supremely. He commanded us to love Him with all our heart, our mind, and our soul. “Learning to love God and be loved by God should be the greatest objective in your life.”

2. When we trust Him completely. This means having faith that he knows what is best for our lives.

3. When we obey Him wholeheartedly. And not just because we have to with an attitude or chip on our shoulder (much like when we were 15 and our parents made us do something) but we must obey him enthusiastically and joyfully. We gain our eternal place in heaven by grace rather than obedience but it makes God smile when we obey him.

4. When we praise Him and thank Him continuously.

5. When we use our abilities. “Every human activity, except sin, can be done for God’s pleasure if you do it with an attitude of praise.”

The question posed at the end of day 9 was in what areas of your life do you need to work on trusting God more? Personally, the future in general is where I need to trust God. I can get so caught up in what will my career look like, where will I live, when will I get married, how many kids will I have, can I have kids, what will my health look like, I need to be healthier, and so forth. I need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and let go. Keeping it in prayer and asking God for guidance and peace while letting go of taking control. Just trust!
